What people ask before writing
Who reads my message?
I do. There is no intake center and no script. I reply as soon as I am out of court.
I am calling for someone who is in jail.
Give me their full name and where they are held. Please do not talk about the facts on a jail phone, because those calls are recorded.
What should I leave out?
Leave out the details of what happened until we have spoken. Names, dates and the charge are enough for a first note.
